2025, week 14

4 april ‘25

i think the time of the month is knocking on my door because i’ve had a roller coaster of a week. now that should ward off any boys from reading further.

we had our quarterly pot luck lunch at work so yours truly whipped up some spanakopita rolls with honey to add to the table. in english, one can simply call them spinach and feta rolls.

on the menu we had:

🍳 breakfast – mcmuffins

🧀 snacks – a cheese board, sausage rolls, spanakopita rolls

🍚 mains – fajita wraps, japanese curry & rice, lasagna

🍰 desserts – lemon drizzle cake, cream egg cookies, moroccan sweets

you best believe your girl was crashing out by noon because a mcmuffin, 3 rolls & 2 lemon drizzle slices as a starter packed a punch. but fear not, for i endured. the star of the show has to have been the lemon drizzle, you can’t really beat it. with an iced coffee by my side & a waitrose bag ready to swipe leftovers, we made it to 5pm.

so why are you so emosh losh? what’s the fuss? well let me tell you.

at my own risk, i started watching “when life gives you tangerines” on netflix and let me warn you now, it’s not for the faint hearted. even more so if:

  • you’re living away from home
  • have immigrant parents
  • you’re from a third world country
  • has lost a parent
  • you’re just a girl in her twenties

it’s probably the most beautiful show i’ve watched, even better than “this is us” but every episode has got me down on my knees,  begging you please … so much so that if i’m left on my own for too long, i will start crying just at the thought of it.

this morning, i was crying on my walk to work. now i know that makes me sound like a little bit unstable but please note the disclaimer at the beginning of this post. i think the show and how i feel about it warrants its own blog post so let’s pause for now.

apart from that, i say with delight that spring has officially sprung in the kingdom of the united. yesterday i caught myself missing some rain?! i really am going mad. anyway, its a friday so apart from soaking in the sun after work, im meeting up some friends and their newborn this weekend. it’ll also be my first visit to winchester – fun fact: my first ever school was the winchester school in dubai. back then, i didnt think it was an actual place so a little full circle moment there.

back to work i go so let’s leave it there. i’ll see you on the next one,
