it’s always the toughest goodbye, leaving home – especially when home means leaving behind my parents without my sister there to soften the blow. but such is life, and knowing she’ll be visiting them in just five days makes it a little easier. meanwhile, we’ll be off to prague to see parents no.2.
the real reason we’re dashing back to the UK for less than week? an end-of-year company meeting, a christmas work do, and most importantly… secret santa, baby! anything for some early christmas gifts. but before we get into all that festive chaos, let’s rewind and talk about the highlights from our last week in dubai.
a fat iced coffee, mojitos & finger food for the last race of the season
i also met one of my closest friends from highschool who i in fact have not seen in nearly 5 years?! it was honestly the best day, we hung out just like old times catching up on everything and anything over some 10/10 sushi. 3fils, you have my heart and my card!! 🤤
we spent a day in old dubai, i don’t think i’ve been here since i was a 10 year old on a school field trip but it was so beautiful & an absolute must visit if you’re in town. we of course had to do an abra tour & dodge a million negotiating vendors as you do at a souk – it was hilarious because frank (a visibly “western” tourist) was pulled in several directions and he is so not used to it, bless him but the guy was called all sorts of compliments including justin bieber, so i think the man had a good time.
for secret santa, i got a friend who lives & breathes asian food / snacks – so it was only right to get her 5kg worth of it from chinatown.
after a couple beach days, a final drive to our favorite spots, classic order from eat & drink paired with endless molly cuddles, we’re off.
as if i didn’t shed enough tears already, got to watch my favorite disney movie on the flight back.
now to gear up for a christmas dinner 24h after we land and swap our suitcases from summer to winter mode.
