a 22h shift, who is she?

18th april ‘25

a 22h shift! am i a doctor, you ask? i’m afraid, the answer is a no, im just an overworked girly who asked for some annual leave. we’re flying to barcelona today, which im over the moon for, but that also means i’ll be away from work for a whole week. i can tell you now that trying to complete a week’s worth of work along with the pile of existing work that’s been expected of you is a futile effort. i sat at my desk (or should i say sofa) at 9AM on 17/04 and was only able to clock off at 7:30AM 18/04 (this morning)! in my busiest of days, never had i thought i’d pull an all nighter, but lo and behold – the universe was betting against me. bless frank for trying to stay up with me – he last till around 4 am but i think the sleep deprivation was significantly hindering his ability to perform while gaming so he retired for the night.

fear not, for a classic 5 guys for dinner & a pepe’s chicken for an early breakfast kept me going. did it in fact reverse all the healthy workouts i was doing leading up to the holiday? maybe. but it did the job and kept me up for as long as i needed to!

okay, i’m done with the work ramble. i’m officially on out of office mode and counting down the minutes till we’re on catalonian land. we were originally meant to meet my sister in madrid for a few days before wrapping up in barcelona, but she bailed so we just prolonged a stay in the catalonian capital instead. city holidays can be quite hectic, so im actually looking forward to a slower pace and more time in a single city.

not sure if i’ve mentioned, but i’ve officially moved into kdrama universe. we’ve been smashing about a show a week, having finished when life gives you tangerines, reply1988 and currently on the penultimate episode of queen of tears. along with the endless tears, it’s also brought on a craving for korean food. last week we travelled to our neighboring city, 2 days in a row just to enjoy another bowl of kimchee jiggae. and that’s exactly what we did before our flight.

it’s honestly irresistible and a must try if you haven’t already!

i’m yet to scramble in some spanish duolingo, so that’ll be homework for the flight. all is packed, nails are done and we’re almost at boarding – i’ll see you in barcelona.
