loki in a musical?

how are we already in the third month of the year? for one, i’m not complaining because holiday season is closer but on another note, i don’t have much to show for the last 3 months…

it’s unreal how busy work has been. so much so, that i don’t really want to spend my non work time thinking, speaking or writing about it so let’s swiftly move on.

there’s been a bug floating around so we’ve been poorly (on&off) during the last few weekends which meant valentines dinner plans had to take a back seat for a moment. a worthy wait because this last weekend was almost perfect. we had rescheduled our booking @zephyr a fair few times but it was finally set it stone & paired with my first ever london theatre experience.

after 8 straight weeks in solid darkness, a blanket of clouds over the uk and not an ounce of blue sky, we got a sunny, windless day – it was time for seasonal depression to take a day off . we live a 30 minute drive from london but neither of us are brave enough to drive in the uk so we got a train into the city – question for SWR, public transport is meant to be affordable, what happened to that?

we always make a day of our time in london, primarily to justify the train prices but london is london, you’re always going to find something to do around the corner.

much to our surprise, we capitalized on the rarity of the sunshine and walked our way through oxford circus – window shopping hot drink in hand, hyde park & down portobello rd to enjoy a highly anticipated dinner at zephyr. the greek inspired spot was on our list for months so you best belief we had our order ready the minute we walked through the doors.

🍅 food – 10/10 (delish delish delish)

🎶 atmosphere – 9/10 (too loud for my liking, takes away from an intimate evening)

🥄 service – 10/10 (fastest service i’ve experience in a long time)

💰 value for money – 8/10 (couldn’t fault a single dish except to say that i could probably find the same value & quality for 80% of the price elsewhere)

after a very satisfying meal, we made our way to theatre royal drury lane for a night with tom hiddleston & hayley atwell. a friend from work has basically given me a great british bucket list – one of which was going to the theatre. i wouldn’t say i am a theatre buff (yet) but i can truly appreciate a good production. i absolutely loved theatre during middle school, joined a theatre group outside of school too but the fun of it all got lost in the midst of covid, university & adulting.

we watched shakespeare’s “much a do about nothing” by david lloyd co and it was fantastic! considering it was my first theatre experience, i was expecting the typical, traditional set – it was anything but. i took the first 15 minutes to adjust to the british humor and accept the fact that this was going to be a modern take on the shakespearean classic but there on out, it just got better and better.

there was dance, music, humor and some pretty faces – cameras weren’t allowed for the obvious reasons but i’m sure you’ll be able to see some snippets on tik tok or instagram. we had the best experience and spent our lovely stroll to the train station planning our visit back!

the last train home had to be accompanied with some michael scott & a maccies of course. in the uk, i’m a mcspicy baby through & through.

that’s all for now. ill see you on the next one,
