quick trip to the louvre x hand rolls

7 december ‘24

💉 without exaggeration, i have visited knot bakehouse everyday without fail. their salted vanilla cold foam matcha runs through my veins and i wouldn’t have it any other way.

😡 a message for the dubai government / RTA on behalf of everyone living in dubai: fix. the. traffic. what’s up with that? because a journey that would normally take 20mins now takes 40 & road rage is not good for the wrinkles

🇦🇪 having lived in dubai since i was 2, it’s embarrassing that i’ve only ever been to abu dhabi twice so we decided to changed that. frank & i jumped into poja (my 14 year young, beaut of a car) and headed to the capital city! did i strategically plan this trip on the media day of the final f1 race of the year which is also held in ad in the hopes of “running” into leclerc? yes. was it a success? no. but we don’t talk about it and move on.

⛽️ after a fuel stop and 1.5hr on the road, we arrived at the louvre. got a sweet parking spot and in we went. it was stunning! the architecture, the galleries, the location, the sea. i am so jealous that it’s a trek from dubai. if you’re ever in town and have a day to kill, i would highly recommend. but then again there’s a million other amazing attractions in the capital so maybe stay a night or 2.

☕️ highlight, very on brand for me but it has to be the iced spanish latte from ethr. it is so hard to get an iced spanish right, but they did. we started our day quite early so were done at the museum by around 3pm. the plan was to visit the grand mosque and stay for dinner but honestly the fear of the traffic on the way back considering it was a race weekend made us reschedule. with another coffee for the road, we headed back to dubai to visit a local handroll spot that i’ve been eyeing for a while.

i think there’s a nad al sheba location now, but we went to the flagship location at alserkal. we had to try a bit of everything on the menu, some twice, others thrice. the staff are super friendly so if you’re going for the first time, just ask them what to get, it didn’t disappoint.

  • the food 100/10
  • the setting 10/10 (we did walk in at off peak hours, which i much prefer. it can get crowded real fast)
  • the drinks 8/10 (it was great, but i love a variety)

i think i’m going to wrap this one here. i’ve got just under a week left in dubai before we fly off again. the plan is to toast under the sun, reunite with a childhood best friend & some quality family time. i’ll see you on the next one,
