back like i never left

i’m back home!

after what felt like the most insane work week, we’re back in dubai for 2 weeks to spend sometime with my parents before christmas.

my most favorite part about a long flight has to be meal service! it’s honestly the ultimate dream, are you telling me to sit in my little nook, watch all the tv i want and you’ll hand deliver me my meals and drinks?! and you’ll clear it out after?! yes please, where do i subscribe for a lifetime of this?

anyway, here’s what was on the menu:

🥔 starter – potato and corn salad 10/10 (they added some mustard in there for a kick)

🧈 finger food – fresh roll of bread, butter, a chunk of cheddar, crackers, cheesy corn nibbles, a chunk of chocolate

🥩 the main event – i unfortunately don’t remember what i chose but from the looks of it, i think it was a beef or lamb pilaf 10/10

🍰dessert – salted sticky toffee pudding (are you kidding, i absolutely absorbed that)

🥤 we of course had some apple juice and coffee after!

😴 there was a second breakfast meal service but i was too full up from dinner as you can imagine so we slept in for that!

i’ve not been back in dubai during the winter months since 2020, so for one i am slightly disappointed by the lack of UV during the day but on the other hand, the city is the lively-est during this time of the year. morning runs, afternoons by the beach, restaurants & bakeries open till 2am and every sunset is one to catch.

it’s slightly busier for frank & i this december, we’re trying to spend as much time with family as we can which does mean we’re working from home for half the time. something im forever grateful for – with the risk of sounding spoilt it is crazy to think that a 9-5 office commute was almost mandatory for every single corporate worker pre covid?! this is the one time i would say i was born in the right generation, because i could not do that. we’re working for a week and we’ve got a week off to laze about.

it’s the first time i’m coming home to my sister not living there since … the day she was born? a very very odd feeling, not really a fan.

we’ve got a few beach days planned, hopefully do a day trip to abu dhabi – at the start of 2024 we told ourselves that we’d earn 2 f1 end of the season tickets but i think we treated ourselves too well this year so that might be on the cards for 2025 instead. you’ll still see me trying to bump into leclerc somewhere in ad that weekend, i’ll keep you posted 😉

my parents are moving apartments so we’ve been apartment viewing for the last few days and helping out with a few bits and bobs. hopefully by the next blog post, we’ll have chosen a place for them.

see you on there!
